Fire companies from two states and six counties are battling a major commercial structure fire on Route 611.
According to reports from the scene, fire broke out at The Promenade shop at Fountain Court early this morning. The fire broke out in an elevator and was contained but flared up shortly after 10 a.m.
The building, which contains a mix of professional offices and shopping, has major damage.
Businesses included Subway, a Vietnamese restaurant, Elegant Bridal shop and a nail salon. Terrery Dental was also located in the building.
The shopping center, built in 1990 has 54,326 feet of rental space located on 5.20 acres.
Route 611 is closed from Colonial Auto to Smugglers Cove while crews battle the fire.
The fire department is asking people to avoid the area.
