Jordan To Unveil Strategy For Green Hydrogen Projects

According to a Jordanian official, Jordan plans to introduce a new strategy focused on green hydrogen projects as part of its renewable energy vision. The strategy aims to reduce dependence on traditional energy sources and position Jordan as a regional hub for exporting clean energy.

Hassan Al-Hayari, the assistant secretary general of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, emphasized the advantageous circumstances that support the implementation of renewable energy projects in the nation.

The government is expected to approve and announce the new strategy in the third quarter of this year, demonstrating Jordan’s commitment to expanding the use of clean energy and increasing its contribution to the overall energy mix.

Hayari also mentioned the significant progress made in solar and wind energy projects, which have boosted Jordan’s production capacity to 2.6 GW, accounting for approximately 27% of the energy mix by the end of 2022.

The government intends to continue implementing such projects to reach a target of 50% renewable energy, with regular revisions of the renewable energy vision to ensure its attainment.
