A newborn left at a business in Plano on Wednesday afternoon is in good condition at a Dallas hospital, police said Thursday.
Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, police were notified that the newborn — just hours old — had been left near the 600 Block of North Central Expressway.
Police said patrol units and members of the department’s family violence unit responded to the call and that Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the child to Dallas.
Authorities identified the mother and father of the child and said the parents sought help at the business because they were unable to care for the baby. An investigation is ongoing.

Texas’ Safe Haven law , or Moses law, allows people to leave infants at hospitals, fire stations, emergency centers or emergency services stations if they cannot care for their baby. They must notify an employee at those locations that they are seeking “safe haven” for their baby.
Individuals who leave a newborn at designated safe locations will not face criminal charges for abandonment or neglect.
